Where do I begin talking about the fashion sense of doggie couture? Canine fashion ranges from simple bows to be-dazzled headpieces, rustic bandanas to diamond collars, from natural paw-breaking-the-pavement to ballet slippers, from raincoats to winter shearling coats. Your dog and his/her fashion can shape the way in which people perceive you- Paris Hilton and her chihuahua, Tinkerbell, coming to mind.
Lap of Luxury features internationally acclaimed dog couture from designers such as Paris Hilton, Little Lilly, For Pets Only, Paris Erotica, and PinkGold, amongst quite a few others.
Be careful, though! Don’t overheat your animals! Their hair keeps them warm enough. Additional clothing can overheat them. You can easily detect overheating if you see increased panting, lethargy, increased drinking, and even sweaty paw prints. Dogs sweat through their paws!
Don’t restrict your animal’s movement! Purporting your fashion interests across your pet shouldn’t result in a fashionable straight jacket for your pet.

What do you think of when you hear the word “poodle”? Does a perfect puff of fluff at the chest, ears, and tail flash in your head? This design pattern is famous due to the ingenuity of nothing other than the visionary works of dog groomers, and there is ONE canine groomer that far surpasses the definition of dog groomer. His name is Jonathan David.
Just to toot his horn a little, Jonathan is nothing short than a world-renown champion dog groomer. He was ranked top 5 in a grooming competition for two consecutive years (in 2008 and 2009), and he was also a stylist for Groomteam USA for 2008 and 2009 (horn tooting: toot toot!). Groomteam USA is the official USA grooming competition team and competes against countries around the world in the Grooming Olympics, which takes place every 2 years. His team actually took the gold last year. But more about the Grooming Olympics in the next blog… this one is exclusively on our celebrity- yes, celebrity.
Jonathan is a featured groomer on Animal Planet’s “Dogs 101″ and “Groomer Has It”. His own celebrity makes it only more fitting that he caters to the grooming needs of clients such as Mariah Carey, Ralph Lauren, Betty Buckley, Louise Lasser, John O’Hurley, Betsy Johnson, Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates, and Ivana Trump.
So how did Jonathan begin his successful career? It started innocently, as some things often do: he worked in a puppy store. After learning tricks of the grooming trade, the career moved to the show ring when he was only a teenager, where he specialized in Australian Shepherds and The Chinese Crested Powder Puff. He then moved to Manhattan and attended the ever-so-famous, top grooming academy: Nash Academy of Grooming. His biggest break came through a client, none other than actress Debi Mazor and her toy poodles (Jonathan’s favourite breed to style up). His career since then has blossomed and the rest is history with an even brighter future on the horizon.
Jonathan now is a breeder of Biewer Terrier, a very rare breed originally from Germany. He is on the board of the Fort Lauderdale Dog Club, and AKC sanctioned club, and he is on the board of the Biewer Terrier Club of America (aka BTCA Inc).
